A good example of a frequently overlooked necessity is a trailer with which to haul your motorcycle. Mother Nature's elements are sometimes best enjoyed upon reaching your destination, rather than experienced while traveling toward it. A week or weekend at the family cottage and not being able to enjoy the great back roads is heart breaking. Family trips across the country without ones motorcycle is very hard to deal with for most. Through-out the riding season ones blood flows for the feeling of the open road riding on ones pride and joy.
Travel aside, motorcycle trailers are handy, even indispensable, for getting a motorcycle to the shop, or to avoid committing the better part of a day waiting while the dealer installs new tires and brake pads. The Stinger trailer is preferable to a pickup truck for motorcycle transport, especially when single handedly loading/unloading.
The problem for many is where do you find the space to park this little-used device? No matter if it's a flatbed or three-railer, the footprint of most trailers sturdy enough to carry large street machines is itself the size of a quartet of Electra Glides.
A one-car garage home with a full-sized car, couldn't normally house a motorcycle trailer, too. But the folded Stinger will squeeze in nicely. Fully extended, it's just shy of 13 feet long and has a load capacity of one bike (or one trike on the trike model), with a 3,500-pound load-rated axle. It also includes a loading ramp which folds up during transit and houses the trailers full running lights. Pull two pins, fold, replace pins and the Stinger becomes about the same size as the 4- by 4-foot pallet it arrived upon. The Stingers weight only 180 lbs and when folded is easy to move around and stores vertically or horizontally. The Stinger Trailer now comes standard with a 5 settings wheel chock, this addition makes loading and unloading of the motorcycle much easier not to mention more secure.
The Stinger incorporates a proprietary system that replaces the hitch ball with a swivel assembly that bolts directly to the trailer tow arm, this contributes to its stability, the tow arm needs to be a 12 inches or so from the ground, this enables the Stinger to be level. The Stinger suits compact cars but requires drop tow arms on taller vehicles, like SUVs and pickups. The Stinger must also be attached to your vehicle before loading or unloading a motorcycle.
The Stinger has only two optional items, a spare tire and running boards. The running boards are a loading and unloading aid only, they are installed on both sides of the rail so that the riders feet are at the same level as the trailer. The running boards need to be removed while transporting the trailer or when folding it up for storage.
